Connecting the Intel Edison Module to a PC

To connect to the shell on your Intel Edison Module via Putty or Terminal, you must connect your module as follows:

NOTE: It is considered you are using an Arduino Breakout Board that will be powered via micro-usb connector. For any other configuration, please refer to the Connecting Cables Appendix

  1. Ensure the microswitch (see figure) is toggled down
  2. Plug a USB cable with a micro-B type connector into the top micro USB port, and the other end to your computer

    NOTE: This cable must be connected to a USB port that supplies enough current so that Edison works correctly. Connecting to a USB 3.0 connector will almost always do the job.

3.Now that Edison is powered on, do the same as in step 2, but in the bottom connector

4.Once you've completed these steps, you're ready to connect to Edison's shell Using Putty if you are working on a Windows machine, or Using screen and minicom for Linux.
